Book Meme
this is a meme from "Don't try this at home"- and my very first meme, I might add.

1. One book that changed your life: First, I would have to say the Bible, next "Lessons on prayer" by Witness Lee.

2. One book that you've read more than once: oh my, I have many I read every year or so- again and again. Among these are the "Anne" books (Anne of green gables...) by L.M. Montgomery, books by Jane Austen and "Stepping Heavenward" by Elizabeth Prentiss

3. One book you'd want on a desert island: the Bible, or Robinson Crusoe

4. One book that made you laugh: Bridgette Jones' Diary

5. One book that made you cry: Little women, The Betrayal by Beverly Lewis (I was such a blubbering mess I almost put the book away unfinished)

6. One book that you wish had been written: Mary's autobiography (mother of Jesus)

7. a book you didn't enjoy: 1984-Orwell, The horse whisperer, anything Steinbeck

8. One book you are currently reading: "Parents and Children" Charlotte Mason

9: One book you've been meaning to read: "The well trained mind", "A chance to die" (Amy Carmichael) by Elisabeth Elliot

10: Book you remember as a real page-turner: The wheel of time series by Robert Jordan

11: Non-fiction books that you have enjoyed: "Educating the whole-hearted child" by Sally Clarkson, The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

12: Children's books your family has loved: Goodnight moon ( I can recite it), Minerva Louise (about a hen), Hank the cowdog (on audio-hilarious!), Pollyana, The tale of desperaux, Ella enchanted (much better/different then the movie).

At 9:39 PM, Hen Jen said...: Thanks Chilihead2 for visiting my site, I have heard good things about well trained mind too, I wasn't planning on reading it- I am more charlotte mason type schooling, but I picked up Early language lessons by the same author, so now I am curious. I am interested to find out what is missing in my education also, should be a good read.

I've heard of the Hartio Alger stories, I will look for them when my boy is a little older. I forgot to put on the list the Elsie Dinsmore series, my two older girls and I are hooked-so far we've read the first 3 volumes. There are so many great books out there it is hard to keep the list to one or two.
