Hotel Happiness

Sky and I set out Wednesday to celebrate our 15 year Anniversary. We decided on a 2 night stay in near-by San Diego. Sky got a deal on the internet at a hotel. I had some serious misgivings because it was less than $99 a night...but he was so sweet to take charge and reserve something..

We ended up here:

We fled, and Sky's feelings of remorse bought me a stay at the Marriott instead, with a pool that looked like this;

We were right at the water, near the down-town gas-light district. We had a wonderful time, were able to walk from the hotel to shopping and dining. We had dinner at Morten's steakhouse- which was just awesome, visited the Ghirardelli chocolate store for chocolate of course, and a to-die-for shake. We had dinner one night at a place that made wood-fire pizza's- with 5 kinds of cheese, including goat cheese and artichokes and garlic chicken...very good.
We visited the San Diego Museum of art at Balboa park (I forgot my camera..) and the last day we visited Coronado Island. I love the Del, and every trip we make to San Diego, we have to visit it and walk around a bit. Friday (today) was our last day, but we were really missing our kids, so instead of staying the whole day on Coronado Island, having dinner and then coming home...we had lunch and then went and picked up our kids. We really are homebodies.

The hotel looks lovely and the trip sounds wonderful! I LOL at the Muppet Hotel. Definitely not anniversary worthy. LOL.

I like your first photo in the slideshow. You guys look great! Your hair is really looking more blonde than I remember. Well... I guess it's better than "orange," right? Hee, hee.

So you went to Morton's, huh? Good for you? Did you try to the cajun ribeye? And the hot chocolate cake? Mmmm... Morton's :-)

I think I've been to that wood-fired pizza place before when my brother's family lived in La Jolla. Was it Sammy's?

Starlene...I thought it looked orange in the photo! Funny, it looks different colors depending on where a photo is taken, I think indoors it usually looks blonde...
hint to everyone reading...don't ask your 6 year old what color your hair is, you might not like the answer!!

didn't have the cake, we were too full, but I had a small fillet mignon- it was awesome, Sky might have had the ribeye... The live lobster brought to the table was something else! I'm not an overtly animal right person, but I had a strong urge to grab the thing and run to the wharf with it and throw it in the ocean!

Speaking of the lobster... the last time we went to Morton's, the lobster was strangely absent from the tray. We didn't ask why but the girls were VERY sad that they didn't get to see it. I guess that's one of the highlights of going to Morton's if you are 7 or 5 years old.
